The essay is really a pupil’s opportunity to tell us who they really are, not just as a person but also as a pupil. The absolute most successful essays are the most authentic essays. We are really to know who our applicants are. The most readily useful advice I can provide to students is to ‘be yourself’.
They are called short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too quick of a response. The short answers are taken very really in our review process. They give us insight that is valuable to a student’s academic interest also as their commitments outside of the class.
We are trying to find students who will probably be active members for the USC community. I always suggest that students list any commitments they have outside of this classroom. This consists of conventional clubs, activities, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But inaddition it includes, non-traditional activities such as looking after siblings or other family members, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or climbing Everest.
Letter of suggestion
Students often feel they approach to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf like shmoop.pro they do not have control over their letter of recommendations; yet, students do have control over whom. We require that a minumum of one recommendation come from somebody who can touch upon the student’s academic character and possible (i.e. therapist or teacher).

Visiting Campus over the Holiday Break? No problem!
I invested part of my morning at USC’s bookstore while our file review system was temporarily down monday. In the midst of finding the exact size and item that I became looking to get as a xmas gift for the member of the family, I took an instant to pause and look around—the bookstore was incredibly busy! We wondered that which was going on and realized that not only are finals winding down this week, but students are preparing to go home for the vacation break and had been also doing some gift shopping that is last-minute. The bookstore was super crowded early in the day this week, but by this weekend, our campus is going to be mostly empty as the University closes for vacation break from December 22 January 1.
Also though the admission office will never be staffed over the break, prospective students and families are welcome to check out campus and take their tour that is self-guided! We understand that many visitors want to tour USC on weekends and in other cases of the year when we do not offer formal tours, thus we have created the official USC Self-Guided Tour pamphlet for all your university see requirements! This resource follows the path that is same USC Tour Guides take on their tours plus it features a map and pictures of significant buildings and locations on campus as helpful information. Along the way, you’ll understand Campus Center that houses student offices and dining options, scholastic buildings, and libraries such as Doheny Memorial Library, the oldest research library on campus. The same as every tour led by our current students, the self-guided trip ends at the infamous statue of Tommy Trojan. Through the year, it is possible to usually see students, alumni, and other guests taking pictures in front of Tommy, so don’t be bashful to take one yourself!
What tour would be complete without providing information about the certain areas around campus and things to do in Los Angeles? On the page that is final of brochure, various local museums, restaurants, recreations venues, and shopping places are highlighted in case campus visitors want to explore areas off campus, as well.
Whether the thing is USC in your own or led with a tour guide, you’re sure to get a feeling of exactly what our breathtaking campus and also the city of LA have to give you. Benefit from the holiday break!
